Plastic Specimen Model

This is the finished model of Plastic Specimen.

The whale is made to be shown exactly how it was rendered, and materials used were continuous coats of plastic, paint, nails, fishing wire, and glue. Elmer's glue created a great wet effect that suctioned to the whale, and burning the edges of the plastic to the whale to stick even more. Burning the wrappings had pinched and wrinkled the plastic, and made torn holes that made them look aged. The transparent blue Plexiglas casts a ocean blue glow around the whale and reflected on some plastic. The combination of lighting with the materials used around the model will take the viewer into the ocean scene, and show this whale's situation very melancholy in its polluted life. However, being suspended above ground at eye level, slowly turning in place, and the light creating a soft blue glow becomes almost beautiful to witness.
